Provider Support
We Work Directly With Providers
As a Provider Agency, you want to offer the supports that are requested by your individuals that will best serve them. THS Remote Support Services would like to be a partner in making these services another tool that you can offer to the individuals you serve and assist them in living as independently as possible.
We have worked with dozens of providers (both Independent and Agency) to make it as easy as possible to offer Remote Supports as a service to their individuals.
We are a resource that will work with the team to develop, install, and maintain a system that will best support the individual. We can guide you through the entire set-up process, and we have several options for working together to ensure the health and safety of your individuals.
Why Remote Supports
Remote Supports is a service that can alleviate some of the most difficult aspects of the Provider responsibilities. Staff shortages, On-call demands, and unplanned call-offs are just some of the challenges that Remote Supports solves. Remote Supports is a service that every Provider should consider as a way to maximize resources and expand on the services offered for the individuals served.
Our Provider Support System is built SPECIFICALLY to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. THS maximizes the system flexibility for the provider, and we can install systems as quickly as within 2-weeks of our first meeting. Providers have access to all RSS systems and data to ensure they are always up to date with the individual’s RSS activity.
There NO COST to the provider for this system. Our provider support system is completely scalable and flexible to fit the individual’s needs, and there is no additional cost for any system maintenance or service. All equipment is installed and maintained by THS, and we ensure the system is operational and always functioning properly.
How It Works
Offering Remote Supports as a service to the individuals you serve is very easy. We have the provider support process well defined and will assist you every step of the way. In most cases the process will look something like this:
1
Individual requests RSS from provider
2
Provider/Agency contacts their RSS vendor
3
Provider, case worker, & vender meet with individual
4
RSS services authorized for billing
5
RSS vendor installs system at individuals home
6
RSS provided to individual based on schedule
7
RSS vendor billing sent to provider
8
Provider bills for RSS vendor services
9
Provider pays RSS vendor for services
Frequently Asked Questions
RSS Services can be turned on or off at any time, making last-minute staff shortages more manageable.
RSS is a consistent and reliable system that can be put in place and depended on for the shifts assigned. Providers can significantly reduce unplanned emergency shift coverage from DSP’s that are into OT for the week. RSS is also very helpful for several emergency situations that would normally mean calling in a DSP with little to no notice. in-home staffing, RSS is an excellent way to control and reduce OT costs.
RSS significantly reduces calls to the On-Call staff overnight and on weekends.
By replacing shifts with RSS, it allows the provider to reallocate, preserve, and utilize valued staff where they are needed most.
Remote Support Professionals can “drop-in” on an individual during certain times of the day to verify that they are safe and do not need any help. Reminders and prompts are other types of supports that can be delivered as needed or specified in the individuals plan.
DSP burnout is a serious mental health concern that can occur when a person is both physically and mentally drained, which causes an inability to work as productively as they normally would. Using RSS Providers can reduce the frequency of their DSP’s becoming exhausted, frustrated, disengaged and unmotivated at work.
Very infrequently… The Providers backup DSPs are very rarely needed to go out to the home of an individual that is receiving RSS. Most individuals never require this kind of support as most issues or concerns can be handled by our Remote Support Professionals.
Responsibility for services rendered during Remote Supports falls on the RSS Vendor (THS). The Remote Support Vendor is the entity that would be required to supply documentation on the services rendered during Remote Support timeframes. The Provider would only be required to submit documentation for times their DSPs were performing in person HPC duties.
The individual receiving services chooses the company that will provide their HPC staffing. The HPC entity then chooses which Remote Supports Vendor to partner with for RSS services. The RSS Vendor is then, essentially a subcontractor and works for that Provider. The Provider can use as many different RSS Vendors as they choose if their Individual has a specific request.
Remote Supports backup staffing is not intended to be dispatched for emergencies. For emergencies and time-sensitive situations, the intention is for the Remote Support company to call 911 / local emergency personnel to be dispatched to help in those situations. The Remote Support Vendor would then communicate the incident to the team and call tree to make all team members aware of the situation.
A Provider cannot be forced to utilize Remote Supports for time periods that they do not agree to or cannot guarantee backup supports. If remote supports have been authorized for an individual, and the provider does not want to provide them, the individual may wish to select a different provider of services.
